AES Corporation is a Fortune 200 global power company. They provide energy to 15 countries through a diverse portfolio of distribution businesses as well as thermal and renewable generation facilities. AES had identified an IBM Notes/Domino Management of Change application (MoC) as one of it’s top 10 worldwide IT solutions. At this point, the application was only in use in two Northern Ireland power stations, but given the strategic importance of the solution to AES, the intention was to roll it out globally. However, AES IT was uncomfortable committing further to MoC while it was still based on the ageing IBM Notes/Domino platform. AES required a strategically viable and cost-effective solution and in 2017 Time Technology was awarded the project to migrate MoC to the Salesforce platform.

Solution Overview

Salesforce is the fastest growing Cloud-based application platform available. AES already utilised Salesforce within their organisation, so the strategic requirement was satisfied. Having no local infrastructure requirement, rollout to multiple locations is straightforward and low cost. A multi-lingual and mobile capability is built into the Salesforce Lightning environment. Finally, Time Technology was able to reproduce the critical elements of the user interface whilst integrating core Salesforce capabilities such as Chatter, Files and Reporting/Dashboards, to significantly elevate the functionality of the solution, with minimal end-user re-training.

“The move to Salesforce has been extremely successful, enabling the business to continue working with minimum interruption or change for the end users.

“Time Technology delivered what they committed to and more. The integration of Salesforce features such as Chatter and Dashboards has considerably enhanced the solution, whilst the core application continued to operate the same as the IBM Notes/Domino version we had been used to.”
